New Coaches

Ryan Woodruff

Marty Tomes
Parkland Area Aquatic Club is excited to
announce the addition of two new coaches. Ryan Woodruff
has been hired as the new Head Coach and Marty Tomes has
been hired as the new Head Age Group Coach. Both Ryan and
Marty bring considerable experience and talent to the club.
Ryan Woodruff is the former head coach
of the North Carolina Aquatic Club in Chapel Hill, NC. Woodruff
arrived in Chapel Hill in August 2007 to serve as the head
coach of the North Carolina Aquatic Club and as an assistant
coach for the University of North Carolina Tar Heel varsity
teams. Woodruff’s experience includes serving the
University of Florida swimming program in various capacities
and playing a key part in the return of the Gator program
to national prominence. Woodruff served as the head coach
for the Gator Swim Club in Gainesville, Fla., from 2005-2007.
Woodruff earned his Bachelor of Science degree in exercise
and sports sciences and exercise physiology from the University
of Florida in August 2003. He earned a Master of Science
degree in Human Performance from University of Florida in
May 2007. Ryan was a Florida Swimming All-Star Coach and
a USA Swimming National Team Support Volunteer. He is an
avid runner and has completed six marathons including the
Boston Marathon in 2005 and was the US Master Swimming open
water national champion in 2001. Ryan has been married for
four years and has two children.
Marty graduated from Ohio State University,
with a bachelors in Sports/Coaching Management, where he
was a varsity swimmer all four years and was a Top 8 finisher
in the Big Ten conference three out of his four years. In
2008 he attended the Olympic Trials, swimming the 100 Fly.
Marty coached club and high school swimming in Ohio before
moving to Philadelphia in 2006 where he was the Assistant
Head Coach for Friend’s Central Aquatics and Head
Coach for the Jr.II group. He loves working with swimmers--challenging
them and helping them learn how to discover success through
hard work and dedication. Marty is a Level II ASCA member
and has one child.
PAAC is excited to have both of these talented
coaches on board and is looking forward to another great
year.
